Vienna- Vienna Greek-Orthodox Archbishop Michael Staikos, the Church’s Exarch for Central Europe, will visit Moscow on Pentecost, 24 May, it was announced today (Thurs).  He will accompany Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomaios I.

Staikos has said he is confident that the pan-Orthodox Council, which has been in the planning stages for years, will finally take place in 2012 or 2013.

Staikos told Catholic press agency Kathpress that relations between Moscow and Constantinople (Istanbul) have improved significantly since new Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill’s recent visit to Istanbul.

Staikos said Bartholomaios’ upcoming visit to Moscow is an attempt to improve intra-Orthodox relations.

What a curious coincidence; the Ecumenical Patriarch meeting the Russian Patriarch in Moscow on the eve of the Episcopal Assembly in New York, where almost 60 Bishops are expected to discuss the future administrative unity of all Orthodox Churches in North America. I wonder what the Moscow dinner conversation might be to accompany the vodka and caviar? What directives will be received from Moscow in New York, Tuesday night? Are they preparing the 2012-13 Pan-Orthodox Council?

  2. Administrator Says:

O Lord and Master of my life,
leave me not with the spirit of laziness,
of despair, of domination, or idle words.

Rather, give me, your servant, the spirit of integrity,
of humility, of patience, and of love.

Thus, Lord, grant me the wisdom to see my own faults,
and not condemn my brother;

for You are blessed, now and forever. Amen.

Our Father, who are in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.

Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day
our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
