METROPOLITAN LAURENTIU’S Homily

Author: Mitropolitul (Metropolitan) Laurentiu

HIGHLIGHTS OF METROPOLITAN LAURENTIU STREZA’S (Romanian Patriarchate)
JULY 6, 2008 CHICAGO SPEECHunofficial transcription in Romanian from the video found at www.biserica.tv/play.php?vid=48

(unofficial translation of highlights into English)

Dear brothers in Christ,

His Eminence Nicolae asked me to say goodbye to you…

…It was a great opportunity for us, I say this sincerely, receiving this news that I wished for with all my soul.  I would have gotten upset and I would have left so saddened if this project planned by God would have been stopped by men.  This would have been our biggest failure.  We do not know what would have followed.  The so-called Plan B fell a long time ago, because it was simply meant to be a warning to both sides that time was moving too quickly.

So many years have passed since our revolution, our liberation, well let’s count 17, tomorrow 18, then nineteen, we will go, not the years.  Time is the same, but we pass through and do not leave behind anything well established, we do not even succeed in repairing things.  I tell you, it is very difficult to repair something broken by others… See that God has pulled it off through the wisdom of those who have lead you until now.

Metropolitan Laurentiu

  1. Costel Says:

PRAYER OF ST. EPHREM

O Lord and Master of my life,
leave me not with the spirit of laziness,
of despair, of domination, or idle words.

Rather, give me, your servant, the spirit of integrity,
of humility, of patience, and of love.

Thus, Lord, grant me the wisdom to see my own faults,
and not condemn my brother;

for You are blessed, now and forever. Amen.

OUR FATHER

Our Father, who are in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.

Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day
our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
